The Major Scale Made Easy

Knowledge on Keys and Scales are an essential part of being a musician.

The Major scale (Theory).pdf

In this document the full Chromatic Scale is shown. This Scale indicates all of the possible notes in music and can be seen as a musical "Alphabet" of sorts.

The Chromatic Scale is constantly referred to and applied in music, memorizing it off by heart is the key to musical success!

Each individual note in the Chromatic Scale can be turned into a key using the Major Scale formula as shown in this document.

Especially note that we use Whole steps (W) and Half steps (H) in order to determine which notes are in our Key. We used the Key of G as an example.

Start with your Root note (G) and from there apply the Major Scale formula, moving up a Whole step (A) another Whole step (B) and a Half step (C) etc.

Now it's your turn!

We've already done the key of C for you, use your knowledge on the Chromatic Scale as well as the Major Scale to work out the rest.

NB: Sharps and flats do not mix!

We've separated the keys for you into two groups:

The first tab are keys with only sharps (#), and the second tab are keys with only Flats (b)
